1) Arpanet (19-60-something to 1978)
2) BBS Scene (1978 to 1999)
3) The Internet (2000 to Date)
Just as Grandparents, Parents and Children can all be alive at the same time and the death of one is not required for the birth of another -- all 3 still exist and continue to evolve.

I've ordered some new Internet Service as suggested by my friend Mike, who is a fellow technician and he is very pleased with the service.
Mike did a speed test the other day.
The service is 50mbps (mega-BITS-per-second) downstream and 10mbps, upstream. For those are you who are not so technically inclined, I will break this down with some elementary school basic math and some lamens terms examples.
There are 8 "bits" in a "byte" so when we divide 10mbps by 8, we get 1.25MBps (mega-BYTES-per-second) on the upstream, and 6.25MBps on the downstream, when we divide 50 by 8.
So then:
Upload: 1.25 Megabytes per SECOND
Download: 6.25 Megabyte

Various methods of removing content creator channels as they proceed forward to a longer-term agenda of becoming yet another Netflix, Hulu, etc. Legacy media can't accept that the future of content is directly in the hands of creators, and that the old model of corporate control over what the powers that be want you to think, believe, see and hear is a dying dinosaur.
People don't go to YouTube for Netflix-style content. If people want things like Netflix, they goto Netflix. It already exists.
